David’s Insight on Twisted"

The Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve is the world’s biggest dark sky reserve. It provides for spectacular star gazing. In this shot, the billions of milky white stars, gas and dust that make up the Milky Way Galaxy appear to be spiraling out of the peak of Mount Cook on the South Island of New Zealand. It is so clear that you get a sense of the movement of the galaxy. In the Northern Hemisphere, the mysterious dark patch is known as Dark Horse, in the Southern Hemisphere it takes on the shape of a Kiwi Bird.
