David’s Insight on “Badwater Besin 2024"
Badwater Basin, in Death Valley, the lowest point in North America, at a depth of 282 ft below sea level, is famous for its saltwater flats. Hurricane Hilary flooded the lake in August 2023, creating a very rare shallow lake that persisted for almost 6 months. Captured from Dante’s View, this frame averaged photo shows the incredible size of the accumulation ringed with salt from evaporation.
