David’s Insight on “Woman in Doorway”
This is one of those images that captures what it “felt” like to be standing on the quiet street in Udaipur. Off of the very hectic main thoroughfare, where the frenetic pace of motorbikes and tuk tuks race by in every direction, the quiet streets beckon. A sudden stillness permeates these streets, feeling far away from the chaos just meters away. Children play in the streets while women prepare dinner. The colors of India are revealed in the well-worn paint and scuffed stones of the dwellings contrasted by the bright clothing of the woman. A glimpse of the interior in this scene feels both intimate and inviting.
