David’s Insight on “Wanaka Mist” Platinum
Lake Wanaka on the South Island of New Zealand is home to this famous willow tree. Captured in the Winter, the leafless branches stand in silhouette against the misty backdrop of the mountains. The air was cold and the water so clear that the pebbles below are clearly visible. The subtle tones of the image are suited to the age-old printing process using the noble metals platinum and palladium. Each print is hand coated, printed on Arches Platine cotton archival paper, creating the most permanent image on paper possible. This image is as timeless as the inert metals it is printed with.
